<dc:description>
A data set of soil available element concentrations and mid-infrared (MIR) soil spectra collected from over 900 Pinus radiata sites spanning 16 countries across both the species' endemic and introduced ranges. The dataset links to the Data in Brief publication Garrett et al., (submitted) which describes the sample collection and testing methods.

The data includes two files:

1) File 'Tree-Root-Microbiome programme_Data soil': For each unique soil sample identifier, latitude and longitude, and soil physiochemical data.

2) File 'Tree-Root-Microbiome programme_Data soil': Data dictionary for the data sheet above.

3) File 'Tree-Root-Microbiome programme_Data soil MIR spectra': Soil Mid-Infrared spectra csv files by sample identifier.

Contact: Loretta Garrett (loretta.garrett@bioeconomy.nz)

Acknowledgments

Funding to publish the data came from New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Strategic Science Investment Fund held by Bioeconomy Science Institute (C04X1703). Funding for sample collection, processing and testing came from the “Tree-Root-Microbiome” program (C04X2002), which is funded by Ministry of Business Information and Employment (MBIE) Endeavour Fund and in part by the New Zealand Forest Growers Levy Trust. The authors thank the numerous landowners, forestry staff, and government agencies worldwide who made this global sampling effort possible by facilitating site access and supported sample collection. Soil available elements analysis was conducted by EarthOptics Inc.

References

Garrett, L.G., Partida, C., Sanderman, J., Addison, S.L., Wakelin, S.A.
