Across the globe, there are 14 known <i>Polycephalomyces</i> species. <i>Polycephalomyces bannaensis </i>and <i>P. chiangraiensis</i> are the two most recent introductions from China. In this study, a sighting of <i>P. bannaensis</i> is confirmed in Malaysia through molecular analyses utilising four loci, ITS-TEF1-RPB1-RPB2 and morphological investigation. This study presents Malaysia as a second geographical representation of <i>P. bannaensis</i> apart from China.
