<dc:description><p dir="ltr">The research explored the use of the directed energy deposition (DED) metal additive manufacturing (MAM) technique to manufacture a beta titanium alloy and to solve the problem of partial dissolution of the alloying element powder during the manufacturing process. The elemental molybdenum was successfully added to Ti6Al4V ELI as a beta stabiliser to improve the mechanical properties of components for aerospace applications. The optimum molybdenum content needed to achieve the stability of the beta phase was found to be 15 mass%. Similarly, increasing the hatch distance laser printing parameter improves the dissolution of the elemental molybdenum beyond the expected solubility levels in titanium.</p></dc:description>
