<dc:description>
This is a Practice-led Fine Art PhD research. The key research question is: How might drawing help understand maternal subjectivity in its entanglement with pregnancy and intersection with immigrant mothering? A hybrid of methodologies is used, comprised of Action research, Autoethnography, and drawing where the methodology is embedded in the practice. Yonat Nitzan-Green developed a technique that includes industrial foam sheet, graphite powder, latex, and silver ink to produce a 3D flexible, elastic drawing. Drawing defined as Diffractive, Performative, Relational (DPR) enables to explore embodied knowledge. A triangulation has been developed, consists of DPR drawing in dialogue with a performative archive, entitled Hosting Yonat as a Young Mother (HYYM). This triangulation enables a critical reflective dialogue between the young and mature mother parts leading to a transformative maternal subjectivity. Furthermore, maternal knowledge is made explicit, thus can be shared and preserved. The research builds on Betterton (2014), Baraitser (2009; 2019), Ettinger (2006), Neimanis (2019), and de Zegher (2006).

© Yonat Nitzan-Green

</dc:description>
