<dc:subject>Bracket System Esthetics</dc:subject>
<dc:description>OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine which bracket system produces the most esthetic outcome when used as prescribed.
METHODS: A survey compared Pitts™, Damon™, and 3M MBT™ prescription brackets. Photos of 18 treated cases (3 male and 3 female per system) were shown to 160 participants (100 laypeople and 60 orthodontists), who rated each smile from 1 (least esthetic) to 10 (most esthetic).
RESULTS: Statistical analysis showed participants rated the Pitts™ system higher than MBT™ and Damon™ (P < .001). Female cases received higher scores than males. Among females, Damon™ and MBT™ systems showed no significant difference. Laypeople consistently rated smiles higher than orthodontists.
CONCLUSION: Bracket systems with different prescriptions and mechanics yield varied esthetic results. While mean score differences were minimal, results revealed a statistically significant preference for the Pitts™ system.</dc:description>
