<dc:description>Therapeutic deep eutectic solvents (THEDES) are emerging drug-enabling systems that offer improved stability and biopharmaceutical performance over conventional amorphous formulations. This thesis systematically investigate
THEDES from fundamental principles to clinical translation for post-surgical drug delivery.
Mechanistic studies elucidated the role of hydrogen bonding, glass-forming ability, and composition in THEDES formation and stability, while revealing a thermodynamically preferred "THEDES point." Polymer compatibility was examined leading to practical formulation guidelines and a novel thermal quantification method. These insights enabled successful incorporation of THEDES into implantable polymeric matrices with tunable mechanical and release properties. A biorelevant simulated peritoneal fluid was also developed to enhance in vitro-in vivo correlation.

Thesis embargoed until 31st July 2031</dc:description>
