<dc:description>The dramatic rise in the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be considered a global emergency (Di Salvo, 2024). Since the 1960s, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) has proven successful in helping people with ASD. The University of California at Los Angeles - Young Autism Project (UCLA-YAP) model has demonstrated effectiveness in improving intellectual functioning, adaptive behaviour, communication, general ASD symptomatology, and school placement. The present thesis discusses the possibility of developing a new form of intervention called Non-early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (NIBI) aimed at improving the life conditions of adolescents and young adults with ASD (AyA-ASDs).

Thesis embargoed until 31st July 2028.</dc:description>
