<dc:description>The thesis sets out to investigate the molecular interactions between plants and rhizosphere organisms across a change in atmospheric temperature; primarily explored is the impact on plant parasitic nematodes and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria. To achieve this, a significant amount of rhizosphere organism – root exudate behavioural interactions are investigated, followed by the collection and description of PRE metabolomic profiles. These profiles will be compared with Tomato host transcriptomic data in order to understand the genetic basis of root exudate compound changes. Finally, platforms utilising reverse genetic techniques will be utilised to describe the function of host genes in a controlled environment and further associate their role in formulating plant root exudate.

Thesis is embargoed until 31 July 2029.</dc:description>
