<dc:description>This thesis provides a critical analysis of how conflict-related victimhood is constructed, experienced, and reproduced in rural communities in Northern Ireland. The findings challenge assumptions that rural areas were less affected by conflict and highlight varied dynamics of trauma, memory, and resilience shaped by rural settings. Specifically, the research shows the importance of treating the rural as a localised case study by revealing intimate, place-based experiences often silenced or overlooked by urban-centric policies and processes.

Thesis is embargoed until 31 July 2031.</dc:description>
