<dc:description>Background:
Adolescent mental health literacy (MHL), including knowledge, stigma reductionm and help-seeking, is vital for early intervention and mental health promotion. sport settings offer valuable opportunities for MHL education, yet many existing programmes lack strong theoretical foundations, rigorous evaluation, and stakeholder involvement in sports clubs and schools.

Methods:
Four interconnected studies were conducted. Study one was PRISMA-guided systematic review of adolescent sport-based MHL interventions (6 studies fro 10,408 records). Study two used semi-structured interviews with 37 participants to explore perceived impacts of the Mental Wealth Games (MWG). Study three employed a mixed-methods quasi-experimental design (n=103) to examine MWG effects on MHL, stigma, help-seeking, wellbeing, and resilience, supplemented by focus groups (n=20). Study four involved coproduction workshops with adolescents and facilitators to redesign MWG into the Enhanced Mental Wealth Games (EMWG), guided by NIHR principles and behavioural theories.

Results:
The review identified short-term improvements in MHL and help-seeking, but mixed stigma outcomes. Qualitative findings showed cautios optimism about normalisisng mental health, improved coping and help-seeking, and strong engagement with sport-based delivery. Participants recommended broader content and longer programmes. The mixed-methods study demonstrated significant gains in MHL, stigma reduction, wellbeing knowledge, help-seeking intentions, and life satisfaction, but not resilence. Coproduction resulted in EMWG, a five-session, theory-driven intervention integrating Self-Determination Theory, COM-B, and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, addressing previous gaps.

Conclusion:
Sport-based interventions can improve adolescent MHL and related outcomes, though sustained stigma and resilence changes remain challenging. Coproductin and behavioural theory enhance relevance, coherence, and impact. EMWG is a scalable, stakeholder-informed interventions suitable for future feasibiltity and longitudinal evaluation.</dc:description>
