<dc:description>
This thesis addresses the poor solubility of BCS Class II drugs (felodipine, ketoprofen, ibuprofen) by exploring metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as drug carriers.

Chapter 1 introduces the problem and positions MOFs as a promising solution.

Chapter 2 details synthesis strategies and characterization methods.

Chapter 3 reports using HKUST-1 and its graphene oxide composite, showing improved loading and modified release (published work).

Chapter 4 introduces MIL-101(Cr) for its superior stability and biocompatibility, comparing adsorption and co-synthesis approaches.

Chapter 5 develops a rapid, room-temperature synthesis for Y-ZIF-8 with enhanced properties and drug loading capacity.
Chapter 6 summarizes findings and outlines future research directions.

Thesis is embargoed until 31 December 2027.</dc:description>
