<dc:description>Infrastructure is important to the provision of services and the effective functioning of society. The protection of this infrastructure from the growing effects of climate change is necessary and requires further study. When considered within the context of bridge management, a process of putting the right information in the hands of managers and bridge engineers can enhance their decision-making capabilities. This thesis will discuss what data could be provided and how this could benefit bridge asset managers. The approach used consists of a review of existing literature and case studies with a resulting decision-making tool developed.

This thesis investigates the development of the decision-making tool and attempts to address two key restrictions within bridge asset management, these are data interoperability and visualisation. This is done by examining the datasets available to the project and how these can be displayed on screen to the asset manager. The resulting framework creates a central space for bridge asset managers to view all collated data pertaining to bridges and to interact with the data to inform their decision-making process.

The thesis will also explore open data and further enhancements the decision-making tool above. This work will inform the future work portion of the thesis along with suggestions of additional datasets
that could be included.</dc:description>
