<dc:description>
The dataset here includes all palaeomagnetic, rock magnetic, carbon isotope, x-ray-diffraction data, which contributes to the following conclusions at Pink Mountain, British Columbia.

Extension of Late Triassic geomagnetic polarity records to the conodont and ammonoid dated successions of the North American Cordillera has proved problematic due to widespread remagnetizations. This theme is addressed by utilising a conodont dated succession in two sections from Pink Mountain on the eastern edge of the Cordilleran deformation front. Significantly these display the transitional transformis Zone between typically Lacian (lower Norian) and Alaunian (middle Norian) conodont faunas of the triangularis and multidentata zones respectively. A newly recognized positive carbon-isotope excursion occurs coincident with the base of the transformis Zone. Extraction of a Carnian – Norian magnetostratigraphy was partially successful but is obscured by a stronger Late Cretaceous pre-folding magnetisation. Microscopy, magnetic extracts, X-ray diffraction and rock magnetic data indicate detrital Fe-Ti oxides were dominated by ilmenite but are now heavily pyritised and leucoxenised. Depositional remanence is largely carried by magnetite inclusions in silicates and detrital chromites. The remagnetisation is carried by diagenetic Mn-Fe ferrites and small amounts of relict ferrian ilmenite in the decayed ilmenites. A thermoviscous remanence acquired during maximum burial also likely contributes. Radioisotopic dating of the transformis Zone suggests two scenarios of magnetostratigraphic correlation and a revision of the early-middle Norian timescale.

XRD data is in Phillips UDF format and listed in the excel file for single crystal runs.
</dc:description>
