CX3CR1 Neuroimmune Microglial Cell Forkhead Box Class O1 (FoxO1) Contributions to Metabolic Homeostasis Leslie Carrillo-Saenz (22483978) Biology Neuroscience In the central nervous system (CNS), microglial cells are neuroimmune cells that act as the brain’s sentinel macrophages to protect and maintain a homeostatic functional state for a healthy brain. In this thesis, I will discuss how neuroimmune microglial cells contribute to systemic metabolic homeostasis.
