            <description descriptionType="Abstract"><![CDATA[<p dir="ltr">The <i>Tau Degradome Foundation Atlas</i> (Version 1) is an open-access, curated resource of proteolytic peptides derived from tau protein isoforms relevant to neurodegeneration research. The dataset includes:</p><ul><li><b>Wild-type tau</b> (UniProt ID: P10636)</li><li><b>BigTau</b> [1]</li><li><b>Low molecular weight (lmw) tau</b> [1]</li><li><b>Tau_4A</b> [1]</li></ul><p dir="ltr">This atlas provides a comprehensive reference of proteolytic cleavage products of tau, annotated with chemical and biophysical features to support biomarker discovery, assay development, and translational neuroscience research [1].</p><p dir="ltr"><b>Key Features</b></p><ul><li><b>Unique BigTau peptides</b> are flagged (<code>unique_BigTau=1</code>) to aid in the identification of novel BigTau-specific biomarkers.</li><li><b>Thermodynamic stability</b> is predicted for each peptide, with stable candidates labelled (<code>stable=1</code>), highlighting their suitability for biomarker assay development.</li><li><b>Hydrophobicity and charge values</b> are provided to guide selection of peptides with favourable solubility profiles [2].</li><li><b>Proteolytic origin</b> is annotated for every peptide, including cleavage site information.</li><li><b>Data format:</b> All peptide annotations are provided as comma-delimited ASCII <code>.csv</code> files.</li><li><b>Convenience files:</b> Unique BigTau peptides are also provided separately as a compressed file (<code>BigTau-unique.csv</code>).</li><li><b>Compression format:</b> Datasets are distributed in <code>.tar.gz</code> format and can be extracted with:</li></ul><pre></pre><pre><code>tar -xvzf FILENAME.tar.gz</code><br><br></pre><p dir="ltr"><b>Reproducibility and Methods</b><br>All datasets can be fully regenerated using open-source software tools, including <b>Python</b> and <b>SAS</b>.
