The study identified four facilitators and six barriers during shift handover. A self-reported narrative guide was used to collect data from voluntary participants, as it was the most economical and least disruptive method. The participants were RNs and ENs rendering direct nursing care to adult patients admitted to the adult critical care units and performing shift handover frequently with a minimum of 6 months of critical care experience.
